Gabrielle's Feng Shui Questions and Answers Gabrielle Alizay Answers Feng Shui Questions at AllExperts.com!
Read on for a sampling of some of the questions she has answered....

Q: I am just beginning to learn about Feng Shui and am trying to incorporate the ideas in my house. We have a waterbed in our bedroom, there is a mirror built into the middle part of the headboard. Should that be covered? Is that too much stimulating energy at night? There is also a mirror facing the side of the waterbed, is this a problem? There is also a fireplace in the bedroom, does that negate or balance the energy of the waterbed? I know these are a lot of little questions and I thank you for taking the time to answer. -Karen

A: Hi, Karen--The issues with having mirrors in the bedroom refers to two things. One, don't have a mirror in the bedroom if in the middle of the night, you see your reflection in it, get scared because you see a shadowy figure in your room, and freak out. The other has to do with the fact that many Feng Shui schools teach that mirrors have a very active Chi all the time and that this can affect YOUR sleeping patterns. Many a insomniac has been cured by "putting to bed" the mirrors at night.
That means to cover each of them with a cloth. If your issue does not include sleepless nights or having scares by seeing a reflection in one of them, I am less concerned. However, there are practical things you can do with the mirrors, if you are not experiencing any of the above issues and you want them to help balance the Feng Shui of the bedroom.

First of all, is your bed in the empowerment position? When you are lying down in it, can you see the bedroom door? Very important. If not and moving the bed is unreasonable, a mirror can be placed on a wall to reflect the door. The Cure, with intention, is now done. That alone will help you sleep better. Also, proper curing of a fireplace is to have a big mirror above the mantle. That balanced fire with water. That Cure, with intention, is now done.

Finally, if you are sharing the waterbed with a mate and the relationship seems very "emotional" and turbulent, know that the bed is one of the symbols for love and if you are looking at the symbolism of the waterbed, I would recommend a more "stable" environment in which to sleep and symbolize the love relationship. The fireplace does not effect the waterbed. The waterbed affects your Love life.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely--Gabrielle Alizay
