Feng Shui
Mania
Feng Shui is miraculous. When its principles are applied to
your home and office, get ready for major life transformations.
It improves the quality of everything around you. Additionally,
it makes so much practical sense. Sure, you might be encouraged
to move the bed or perhaps get rid of a certain picture on the
wall. So what, Feng Shui is simple, right? So is a ten day long
Vipassana retreat. Ten days of doing nothing but breathing.
How hard could that be?
Feng Shui is many things--but know that every definition automatically
includes the multi-dimensional effect that Feng Shui has on
the whole lot. Feng Shui, a language of symbols, is the ancient
Chinese model of arranging your environment according to the
laws of the Nature, so that prosperity, harmony, and joy await
you. How do you pronounce the term Feng Shui? Many different
variations have been heard on those words. They range from a
scientific, bacteria sounding fing swui to a tasty dish that
could be served at the local Chinese restaurant, Fong shooey.
Regardless of how you pronounce this term, thankfully it still
works when applied properly to your space. Here is a phonics
trick that will give you the proper pronunciation of Feng Shui:
Say the word “fun” and add a “g” to it. First word covered.
Then, stand up and swish your hips from side to side. Sway.
Second word covered. Next put the words together: Fung Sway.
Now, you are brilliant!
There are many schools of Feng Shui. At least two of these schools
have been brought to America from China; and today, other schools
have birthed themselves from inside this country. The most traditional
is the Compass School of Feng Shui. It involves directions,
numerological information, and an intense knowledge of Chinese
astrological charts. It is based primarily on whether or not
your house’s front door is facing a certain “correct” direction.
If it is not, the Compass Feng Shui practitioner recommends
that you find another dwelling--one with a front door opening
in the proper point of the compass. This is based on an ancient
belief system which was steeped in practicality of survival.
The door should open towards the sunrise. Even though there
is a great symbolic connection between doors opening and new
beginnings, this necessity to have our doors open towards a
certain direction is not the only way that this manner of thinking
can be created.
Enter the school of thought called the Black Hat Tibetan Feng
Shui. Other names for this particular perspective include Black
Hat Tantric Buddhism Feng Shui and Master Lin Yun School of
Feng Shui. This teaching uses the front door as a pivotal point
of reference. Recommendations are subjective to the home or
office. The space is diagnosed according to where different
Life Values such as Wealth/Power, Fame/Reputation, and Love
Union/ Marriage exist depending on where the front door dictates.
Master Lin Yun brought this particular formula to America in
the early 1980’s. His temple is based in Berkeley, California.
Though this school of Feng Shui has its rather extensive set
of rules and “good Feng Shui” disciplines, it is very user-friendly,
intuitive, and right-brained.
However easy to use the Black Hat Feng Shui tends to be, there
is an awareness of the differing lifestyle and culture in the
Western world. For instance, American society and its citizens,
by nature, will not turn their homes into a Chinese Feng Shui
“Cure House.” Examples of traditional Feng Shui “balancers”
to an environment include: keeping the chi or life force in
the home by suspending from the ceiling in almost every room
a crystal tied to a nine inch red ribbon; curing a passionless
marriage by placing nine firecrackers on the Love and Marriage
wall; and showing respect for the knowledge given by paying
the Feng Shui consultant her/his fee in a red envelope.
Here is one example of how new/old and East/West can merge for
the benefit of all. Clients learn to hold in the chi in a certain
area by dangling from the ceiling a crystal or a bead by fishing
line and suspending it at odd number increments that are comfortable
to them. This accomplishes many things. First, the individual
actually does the ritual and the crystal is virtually invisible
once it is hung. Second, it is very inexpensive--another great
motivator to take action. Third, it keeps the character of the
house in its integrity thus allowing individuals to have Feng
Shui work for them, not making the process a hard set of rules
that ultimately creates value and stylistic changes in order
for Feng Shui to bless their space.
A “revised” Black Hat Feng Shui, changed to meet the various
needs of its Western clients, still includes its original union
to the idea of intention. If a Feng Shui consultant suggests
a particular remedy or “cure” to somehow enhance an imbalance
in the space and the client does this because it was recommended,
the act will have little to no effect on the situation. However,
if the client takes the idea, does the action along with her/his
intention--the results will be astounding! Intention is the
elixir that breathes vitality into this system of knowledge
called Feng Shui.
Out of all the various disciplines of Feng Shui, the Black Hat
School holds the greatest potential for turning this methodical
ancient belief system which birthed itself in China centuries
ago into an active, present-day, powerful problem-solving tool.
Black Hat Tibetan Feng Shui effectively addresses health on
all levels as well as issues that come up with money, family,
work, children, creatively, reputation, and relationships. Deeper
levels of insight come with actively using the different areas
that Feng Shui appeals to and include self-esteem, addiction
issues, wisdom, basic survival money needs, pregnancy conception,
empowerment, authority issue problems, and so on.
In conclusion, try breathing with awareness for ten minutes--not
ten hours, not ten days. You can see that even a short period
spent with such self-inquisition, one that only breathing can
awaken, is potent. Feng Shui heals the breath of your home and
office environment. May all who are attracted to the science
of Feng Shui find the Highest Good translator who can simplify
this exotic art into an accessible, Westernized version. Then,
the miracles of a Black Hat Tibetan Feng Shui treatment to the
home becomes obvious, clear, and an exciting tool for all kinds
of solutions in your life
